The city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture accounts for more than 98% of gold leaf production in Japan. We preserve techniques for making gold leaf passed down since the Edo period. The thickness of the gold leaf is about one ten-thousandth of a millimeter. Supreme craftsmanship and skill are required to beat gold until it is ultra-thin and apply each sheet to the backing material. We leverage our techniques for making gold leaf to create a market for Kanazawa gold leaf crafts, and share them with the world so that people can experience gold leaf firsthand.
